Nigeria has hit the ten thousand mark in coronavirus cases in two months of its importation into Nigeria by an italian who has now recovered from the disease.
While the index case had since tested negative, the virus had not stopped spreading like wildfire with two hundred and seventy eight casualties as reported by the NCDC.
Daily Update posted on the verified twitter handle of the NCDC indicates that three hundred and seven new cases of COVID19 have been recorded in the last twenty four hours.
This has now brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to ten thousand, one hundred and sixty two out of which there are six thousand, eight hundred and sixty eight active cases.
However, just as new infections spring up daily, the figure of discharges too rises by the day as a total of three thousand and seven patients have been successfully treated and discharged.
In the breakdown of fresh infections in fifteen states, Lagos is topping the chart following the discovery of one hundred and eighty eight more cases in the last twenty four hours.
FCT recorded forty four, nineteen in Ogun, fourteen in Kaduna, Oyo has twelve which Bayelsa is having nine new infections.
Other states include Gombe with cases, Kano and Delta have three new infections each, Imo, Rivers, Bauchi and Niger recorded two cases each, Plateau and Kwara have one case each.
