Just as Nigeria has crossed the ten thousand mark in coronavirus cases, it has also crossed the three thousand mark in the number of recoveries.

The Nigeria centre for disease control in its daily COVID-19 update announced that three thousand, one hundred and twenty two patients had been successfully treated and discharged from various isolation centres across the country.

The NCDC also confirmed new four hundred and sixteen COVID-19 cases in the last twenty four hours bringing the total number of infections in Nigeria to ten thousand five hundred and seventy eight.

Out of the twenty states with new infections, Lagos is leading the chart as usual with one hundred and ninety two cases, followed by Edo, forty one, Rivers thirty three, Kaduna, thirty, twenty three in Kwara among others.

In the southwest, Oyo recorded ten new cases, Ondo three and only one case in Ogun state, indicating a massive drop in its daily record of COVID-19 infection.

In all, two hundred and ninety nine Nigerians have died from the coronavirus disease.

It will be recalled that Ondo state recorded another two deaths yesterday from COVID-19 which the commissioner for health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro attributed to the fact that the two casualties were over seventy years and had underlying health conditions.

In a statement, Dr Adegbenro explained that the two cases, one from Akure south and the other from Odigbo local government areas died before they could be treated for coronavirus disease having tested positive.
