A PDP lawmaker and the minority leader of Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Rasheed Elegbeleye has advocated postponement of the scheduled state Congress slated for June, 2020.
Mr Elegbeleye made the appeal during a meeting with ward executives at Ikare Akoko in Akoko North East Council Area.
According to Elegbeleye , having the state congress election in June followed by governorship primary in July might not give room for adequate and truthful reconciliation to resolve inevitable rancour that would arise from such intra party elections.
The lawmaker then asked the party hierarchy to consider rescheduling the state congress election till after the governorship election in October.
The minority leader commended the ward executives being the stonghold of the party at the grassroots and charged them to sensitize the masses about the laudable programmes of the PDP towards ensuring that the party emerge victoriously in the October governorship election .
Participants at the meeting included eleven wards chairmen , deputies , secretaries , women and youth leaders who appreciated Mr Elegbeleye for his kind gesture when he distributed covid 19 palliatives to people in the constituency irrespective of their political affiliations.
