Madam Comfort Faramobi Ajoke Olasoji, the maternal grandmother of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has died at the age of 103.
A statement by the Ooni’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Mr Moses Olafare, disclosed that ‘mama agba’ as fondly called, gave up the ghost at her residence in Ile-Ife on Saturday night at the age of 103 years.
The statement said mama was a prominent trader, selling foodstuffs at Oja Itaakogun, Oja Titun and other markets in Ile-Ife and environs in her active years.
It described Mama as a disciplined, and committed Christian who spent her life for the service of God and humanity.
She is survived by children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her burial has been slated for next week Saturday at her residence in Ile-Ife.
Meanwhile Osun state Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has commiserated with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on the death of his grandmother, Madam Comfort Faramobi Ajoke Olasoji.
In a statement by Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ismail Omipidan, Governor Oyetola commiserated with the family and the entire people of Ile-Ife.
He implored Ooni and the entire family to take solace in the fact that their mother, grandmother and great grandmother died at the ripe age of 103, noting that the deceased during her lifetime, made positive contributions to the development of the society.
The Governor prayed for the repose of her soul and grant the family of the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also prayed God to grant the entire family the grace to continue to uphold the virtues of selflessness and Godliness which late Madam Comfort Faramobi Ajoke Olasoji symbolised.
