Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has implored the⁴⁴ Inspector General of Police (IGP) to deploy tracking and other security apparatus to the Ondo state to tackle incessant kidnapping in the state
Governor Akeredolu made the appeal in Akure at the inauguration of members of the State Community Policing Committee
He said the police command had been doing its best to checkmate the menace but believed that with the device, the perpetrators would be adequately tackled
Mr Akeredolu also expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and the IGP on the community policing noting that the step would strengthen the security of lives and property of the people
Earlier, IGP Mohammed Adamu, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, David Folawiyo however advised the Committee from every form of compromise and nepotism with a view to nipping crime in the bud.
IGP Adamu explained that the recent wave of crime demanded collaboration of all and sundry especially the security outfits that were familiar with communities within the state.
Commending government for the initiative, the state PCRC chairman, Elder Kayode Fakolade promised to assist in the fight against crime for a better society.
