A Coalition of women groups and organisations in ondo state have staged a walk against rape in the country.
The women groups included Nawoj ,fida, FOMWAN, NCWS, CSOS among others.
The walk which kicked off from the governors office Alagbaka terminated at the government house where women expressed displeasure over the incessant cases of rape and murder of girls and women in the country
In her submission the ondo state chairperson of the Nigeria association of women journalists, Nawoj, Mrs doris olumoko advocated stringent punishments for rapists.
Mrs olumoko also appealed to parents to adequately protect their forms against all forms of abuse.
On her part ,the chairperson international federation of women lawyer, Mrs Bola ogundadegbe said the child rights laws had been domesticated since 2013 and the Chief judge also established the family court to make the law more effective
Also the executive director ,kids and teens resource centre , Mr martin Mary falana called on government to ensure implementation of laws put in place to protect women and children.
Addressing the women at the ministry of justices ,the attorney general and commissioner for justice ,kola olawoye affirmed that rapists risked life imprisonment and death sentence.
Wife of Ondo state governor, Mr Betty Anyawu-Akeredolu was not left out has she lent her voice to the need for a change in how the society’s respond to the issue of Rape.
