Over fifty widows have been empowered with cash gifts to start petty business to ease their sufferings.
Presenting the cash gift to the widows nawoj chairperson,Nigeria association of women journalist ,nawoj ,ondo council mrs Doris olumoko said that the gesture was to give the widows a sense of belongings and ease their plight
Also speaking, An executive director of a non governmental organisation NGO,Mrs folake Esan who is also a widow of 2Oyears encouraged the widows to be hard-working and ensure that their children are well educated .
Mrs Esan narrated her experience of neglect and bullying but was still able to overcome her challenges through determination
Also the chairperson of Nigeria council of women societies ,NCWS Mrs jumoke Aborode urged the women to protect their children and be more hard-working.
Mrs Aborode assured the women that the association would continue to assist them to acquire solid education for their children to become successful.
Also the representative of the commisioner for women affairs ,Mrs monisola Ishola said government would continue to protect and empower widows in the state.
