The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed seven hundred and seventy nine new cases of coronavirus in the country.
The figure is considered to be the highest single day infection as the highest ever recorded was seven hundred and forty five since the outbreak of the disease in February.
In the break down of new infections, Lagos state is leading with two hundred and eighty five, Rivers sixty eight, sixty in the FCT and Edo state, Oyo recorded forty one Ogun eighteen while Ondo is having sixteen fresh cases.
Other states with new infections are, Enugu-56, Delta-47, Ebonyi-42, Kaduna-19, Imo-12, Sokoto-11, Borno-9, Nasarawa-8, Abia-5, Gombe-5, Kebbi-5, Kano-4, Yobe-3, Ekiti-3, Osun-2
With the latest figure, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria is twenty four thousand and seventy seven.
The number of recoveries have also increased by two hundred and fifty three in the last twenty four hours, bringing the total number to eight thiusand, six hundred and twenty five.
The NCDC in its daily COVID-19 update also announced that Death toll from the virus has equally risen to five hundred and fifty eight.
