Crisis is brewing in the Ondo State House of Assembly as members split over the planned impeachment of the embattled deputy governor , Agboola Ajayi.

The lawmakers at a plenary presided over by Speaker Bamidele Oleyelogun accused the deputy governor of gross misconduct and thereafter moved a motion that an impeachment notice be served on the deputy governor after citing necessary portion of the Constitution.

According to Oleyelogun , fourteen members already signed the impeachment documents.

The proceedings however took a dramatic turn as nine members led by the deputy speaker , Iroju Ogundeji disassociated themselves from the impeachment notice.

They also insisted that the fourteen members claimed to have given out their signatures could not form quorum to commence the impeachment process.

Three members however abstained from the process.

Security was beefed up around the assembly complex during the plenary.
