The Ondo State police command says it is committed to ridding the state off criminals for the safety of law-abiding citizens.

The commissioner of police, Mr Bolaji Salami made this known in Ikare during a familiarisation tour of Akoko area

He however emphasised on the importance of community collaboration to achieve greater success in crime prevention.

Mr Salami explained that the federal government established community policing to complement the efforts of regular police to reduce crimes noting that indigenes were the ones familiar with terrains of various communities and also live with the criminal elements.

The Akoko area commander , Assistant commissioner of police Razak Rauf who mentioned that the area was young and in need of assistance also commended Akoko area PCRC for its unflinching support and contributions of some notable individuals to the take off of the area command carved from owo .

The PCRC Chairman , Mr Femi oloketuyi appealed for deployment of more officers to Akoko area because of its border lines with some other states making it prone to criminals sneaking in and out of the area.

The regent of Akunu Akoko princess Tolani Orogun listed Ikakumo, Akunu Auga ,Ise as hot spots for Kidnappings , robberies and herdsmen – farmers clashes.

The police boss , Mr Salami during the visit also paid courtesy call on the traditional ruler of Oka Akoko , oba yusuf Adeleye and that of IKare Akoko , oba Akadiri Momoh.
