All Cabinet Members in Ekiti State have been mandated to go for Coronavirus test, as four hundred and forty nine are go on self isolated.
This is to facilitate prompt treatment and prevention of the spread of COVID 19 among the Executives and Workers in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation Mr Muyiwa Olumilua stated this in Ado-Ekiti while giving update on COVID 19.
Mr Olumilua who said government could no longer guarantee contacts tracing, explained that it was very difficult to determine when and where the COVID 19 was contracted following the lifting of ban on inter states movement.
He noted that inspite of the fact that Governor Kayode Fayemi had tested positive for Coronavirus, it would not in anyway affect Governance in the state.
In her submissions, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade who lamented community spread of Coronavirus in Ekiti state emphasized the need for every resident to always observe the necessary guidelines against the virus.
Dr Yaya-Kolade berated many residents for their nonchalant attitude towards the guidelines and warned that government would not hesitate to arrest anyone caught violating the rules.
The Coordinator, Ekiti State Taskforce on COVID 19, Professor Bolaji Aluko said a special court had been set up to prosecute anyone caught violating the COVID 19 protocols.
As part of measures to contain the virus, the State Government has covered five Local Government Areas in its random testing, out of the Sixteen Councils in the state.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nigeria, Ekiti State had recorded eighty-six cases, two deaths and had successfully treated forty- seven patients.
