This year’s Ogun Onire festival took a different dimension in Ire Ekiti, Ekiti State as some angry youths allegedly destroyed property in the palace of the town’s monarch, Oba Bobade Adeleke.
Report also has it that the same group of people vandalized police vehicle in the community.
Oba Adeleke confirmed this to our correspondent on telephone after he was whisked away from the palace.
The monarch explained that the attack was sequel to the resolution of the Onire in council which mandated the youths to obey covid-19 precautionary measures during the celebration of Ogun festival.
Oba Adeleke explained that he was whisked away by his people when the angry youths attacked the palace with dangerous weapons.
When contacted on telephone, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu said that police was on top of the matter.
