One thousand, three hundred and sixty seven coronavirus cases have so far been confirmed in Ondo State
The state epidermologist, Dr Stephen Fagbemi made this known while briefing newsmen at the Primary Health Care Development Board, Oke Eda, Akure
Dr Fagbemi said out of the four thousand, one hundred and thirty seven new suspected cases, forty four cases had tested positive within the past four days in the state
He explained that the total number of death had moved to twenty eight leaving the fatality rate at two percent
Dr Fagbemi maintained that active covid-19 cases in the state stood at two hundred and seventy from seventeen local government with Akure South, Ondo west and Okitipupa having eighty percent of the cases
The Chairman, interministerial committee on covid-19 and vice chancellor, University of medical science, Ondo, Professor Adesegun Fatusi blamed the upsurge in cases on inability of the residents to abide by covid-19 protocols
Professor Fatusi therefore cautioned against crowded environment noting that defaulters would be dealt with in accordance with covid-19 laws.
