It was a sad weekend in the ancient city of Ikare, in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo state as a truck loaded with dissel lost control and crashed into the commercial area around Oloko axis, okorun street.
The truck was coming from ogbagi road when it lost control, killing four people while others sustained various degree of injuries.
Okada riders with their passengers were affected in the unfortunate incident while a stationary vehicle was also badly damaged.
Some of the victims were rescued by men of the Federal road safety corps, who arrived early at the scene of the accident.
Policemen also had a hectic time controlling crowd at the scene to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.
Corpses of those who died in the accident have been deposited at the mortuary of ondo state specialist hospital ikare Akoko while those with injuries were admitted at the emergency section of the facility.
The Frsc unit commander for Ikare, Mr Olayinka Akande while confirming the incident attributed it to brake failure urging motorists to always make sure that their vehicles were in good condition before putting them on the roads.
An Ikare Akoko community Leader, chief Bisi Babajide pleaded with the state government to extend the dualisation of road to Okeegbe Ikare so as to bring down the hill which seemed like that of okealabojuto but later received government attention.
