THE ONDO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY HAS SUED FOR PEACE AND UNITY OF PURPOSE ON THE NEED TO ENSURE VIOLENCE AHEAD OF THE OCTOBER 10 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION IN THE STATE.

THE SPEAKER, MR BAMIDELE OLEYELEGUN GAVE THE ADMONITION AT A MEETING WITH EXECUTIVE AND MEMBERS OF THE STATE BRANCH OF THE NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS, NURTW ON THE NEED TO ENSURE PEACEFUL AND CREDIBLE POLL.

THE HOUSE HAS ALSO DEBUNKED RUMOURS MAKING THE ROUNDS THAT SOME THUGS ALLEGEDLY INVADED THE PREMISES OF THE ASSEMBLY COMPLEX.

MR OLEYELOGUN WHO LAUDED THE LEADERSHIP OF THE UNION FOR ITS PEACEFUL DISPOSITION TO MATTERS ENJOINED THEM TO CONTINUE TOWING THE LINE OF PEACE AS BEING WITNESSED IN THE STATE.

HE ASSURED THE TRANSPORT UNION OF THE LAWMAKERS’ SUPPORT WHILE CALLING ON ITS MEMBERS TO SHUN VIOLENCE THAT COULD LEAD TO SOCIAL UNREST.

MR OLEYELOGUN HOWEVER ALSO DENIED RUMOURS THAT THE SIX EMBATTLED LAWMAKERS RECENTLY REINSTATED BY THE COURT WERE DENIED ACCESS TO THE ASSEMBLY COMPLEX.

RESPONDING, THE STATE CHAIRMAN, NURTW, MR JACOB ADEBO THANKED THE LAWMAKERS FOR THE TIMELY ENGAGEMENT DESCRIBING IT AS NECESSARY AT THIS POINT IN TIME.
