The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it is committed to conducting credible and acceptable governorship election in Ondo State.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC in Ondo State, Ambassador Rufus Akeju gave the indication at a training session for security operatives within the state ahead of the October 10 governorship poll.

Ambassador Akeju while placing emphasis on the roles of the security operatives noted that there was the need for synergy in the interest of the nation’s growing democracy.

The REC urged security operatives to assist INEC by doing the needful at ensuring a free and fair election.

In an address, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abolaji Salami represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Monday Kuryas promised not to remain unbiased before, during and after the conduct of the election.

In a remark, the Director-General of “The Electoral Institute”, Dr Sa’ad Idris called on INEC to add value to the forthcoming poll by providing adequate security for electoral staff, voters, observers and other stakeholders on election day.

The training was attended by men of the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Army, NSCDC, FRSC, Immigration, NDLEA, DSS, NCS and Customs Service.
