The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says the fire incident that gutted a section of the commission’s office in Akure will not hamper the conduct of the October 10 Governorship Election in Ondo State.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye gave the indication while speaking on the fire incident.
Mr Okoye allayed fear of political parties that would be participating in the poll that INEC would find means of securing another set of card readers since its a one state election
The INEC National Commissioner noted that over five thousand card readers have been burnt in the inferno.
He explained that the commission would leave no stone unturned as to unravel the cause of the fire incident.
On avoiding future occurrence, Mr Okoye added that the commission would find a lasting solution to ensuring safety of its electoral materials and members of staff.
