The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it has replaced card readers that were burnt in a recent inferno that razed a makeshift office, housing the gadgets in Its Akure Office.

The fire outbreak caused by electrical surge destroyed over five thousand card readers exactly a month to the Ondo state governorship election.

INEC Chairman, Prof Mammud Yakubu made this known on his arrival in Akure Ondo State capital, for a three day visit, preparatory to the OCT 10 Poll.

Addressing Newsmen at the Airport, Prof Yakubu said he came to have on the spot assessment of the level of preparedness for the October 10 Governorship election in the state.

Prof Yakubu emphasized that the commission was ready for the conduct of a credible and acceptable poll as witnessed in Edo State.

The INEC Chairman and his entourage while in Akure are expected to meet with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ambassador Rufus Akeju and Head of Departments ahead of the October 10, Governorship Election in Ondo State.

The Chairman will also have interactions with Media Organisations in the state at the Collation Center, INEC Office and will also meet with Traditional rulers at Cocoa Conference Room in the Governor’s Office.

The INEC Boss during the visit will also meet with ICCES, Electoral Officers and visit some Local Government Areas.
