Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have lent support to Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu in his bid to set up a committee to collate reports on victims of Police brutality in the state, with a view to making a redress.
While addressing EndSars youth protesters in Akure, Governor Akeredolu promised to set up a committee to collate cases of infractions on people’s rights by the police.
The Governor who said the Committee will be inaugurated next week pledged his support towards ending police brutality in all ramifications.
Speaking through the Speaker, Oleyelogun Bamidele David, the Ondo Lawmakers said the Governor’s position was a step in the right direction. The Lawmakers who condemned reported cases of Police brutality across the country called for immediate reform that will inject sanity into the police force in the country.
While commending the youths for their resilience since the protest started across the country, the Lawmakers enjoined them to continue to be peaceful in their approach to making their voices heard.
They called on the leadership of the country at various levels to do something urgently to address the agitation of the teeming youths across the country.
