Killings of harmless protesters; Nigeria is bleeding.
I am deeply shocked by the killings of harmless protesting youths across the country most especially the gruesome murder of innocent and harmless youths at the Lekki toll gate.
It saddened my heart that anyone will attempt to order the killings of our future leaders by suspected security officials under any guise or circumstance. This is barbaric and condemnable in any sane society.
As a representative of the good people of Akure North & South, I cannot accept this gruesome murder of our youths in their own land using the apparatus of the state. I condemned it in its entirety.
The total disregard for the sanctity of human life by some security officers is a call for deep concern to an average Nigerian.
I wish to join other Nigerians to register my deepest condolence with the families of these young Nigerians across the nation who paid the supreme price in their quest for a better Nigeria. My heart bleeds as the nation is in her dark moment.
However, I wish to appeal to the good people of Akure North and South to shun any form of violence and prevent this peaceful protest from being hijacked by unscrupulous elements who doesn’t mean well for our beloved Nation and Constituency.
I join my well meaning colleagues at the National Assembly to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately order the arrest and prosecution of officers involved in the Lekki killings and other parts of the country.
I urged our youths in Akure and the country at large to remain resolute, peaceful and avoid any form of infiltration by hoodlums which could compromise the integrity and genuineness of this peaceful protest for a greater Nigeria.
God bless our Youths
God bless our Nation.
Signed
Hon. Adedayo Omolafe
