The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ondo branch supports the #EndSars protest going on in Nigeria.
We strongly believe that #EndSars protest is beyond ‘speaking up’ against police brutality and all forms of oppression alone.
Nigerian is long overdue for major overhauling and restructuring of its institutions thereby making them stronger than the personnel or persons heading such institutions including the office of the president and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.
#EndSars protest is about putting an end to:
(a) Bad governance
(b) Unemployment
(c) Decayed infractures especially roads, educational services, health services and electricity supply.
(d) Cost of governance
(e) Police and other security agencies brutality
(f) Flagrant disregard to Court Orders by the government
(g) Violation of Human rights
(h) Electoral malpractices
(i) Corruption
and all other Vices and misgovernance in its entirety.
We however appeal to protesters to be peaceful as we are ready to handle cases
Pro Bono, of any peaceful protester unjustly arrested or harassed by security
agencies in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
