The Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC says the effective deployment of the 5th generation of Telecom services popularly known as 5G will foster the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG’s.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Professor Garba DANBATTA stated this in a message to the opening of a capacity building workshop for Telecom Reporters.

Professor DANBATTA represented by the Director Public Affairs of NCC, Dr Ikechukwu Adinde said 5G network would become the fulcrum of the global economy in 2035 as it would provide increased bandwidth and broadband penetration.

Professor DANBATTA said ICT was dynamic and fast evolving promising that government would not relent in leveraging on it to boost capacity and check unemployment and poverty.

Addressing participants, the President National Information Technology Reporters Association of Nigeria, NITRA, Mr Blessing Olaifa of the Nation Newspapers said the training was apt and pledged the cooperation of NITRA in projecting the benefits of the ICT sector.

Over 60 ICT journalists are attending the two day event which focuses on 5G network Investigative journalism and feature writing.
