Team manager Sunshine Queens football club of Ondo state, Seun Betiku says the aim of the team in the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League NWFL 2020/2021 season is to be crowned as champions.
Betiku stated this while featuring on Positive FM sports programme Sports Cafe.
He also said the team is more determined to compete for honour in the federation cup in the upcoming season and pick a slot to represent Nigeria in the first edition of the CAF women champions league.
He posited that the team had put in place several workable plans to achieve the set goals which include an open screening to shop for more good legs.
Speaking on the welfare of the players, Betiku said women football generally had not been given appropriate encouragement and called for partnership from stakeholders to develop female football in Nigeria, stating that such support would help in engaging the girls meaningfully.
The team manager showered encomium on the wife of the Ondo state governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu whom he said has assured the team of her support in all ways to campaign in the upcoming season.
Sunshine Queens were champions of the 2015 Federation cup defeating Bayelsa Queens by 3-1 on penalties after a playing 1-1 draw at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
