The wife of Ondo state governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu has called for concerted efforts at preventing untimely deaths from cervical cancer.
The wife of the governor spoke in Akure at the LAUNCH OF THE GLOBAL STRATEGY TO ACCELERATE THE ELIMINATION OF CERVICAL CANCER.
Mrs Anyanwu- Akeredolu maintained that Cervical cancer was preventable and curable.
She was optimistic that by the year 2030, all countries would have achieved 90% HPV vaccination coverage, 70% screening coverage, and 90% access to treatment of cervical cancer both at detection and full blown stagees, including access to palliative care.
In a remark , Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Titi Adeyemi called on women to embrace regular medical checkup in order to eliminate cervical cancer totally .
According to the commissioner , early detection and treatment at any accredited hospital was the best way out of the disease.
