The body of the slain Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasarawa State Mr Philip Tatari Shekwo has been laid to rest on Friday in his home town, Yelwa, Toto Local Government Area amidst tears by families, friends and politicians present at the burial.

Mr. Shekwo was abducted from his residence in Lafia, the state capital around 11 PM on Saturday Nov. 21, 2020 and found dead on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020 near his house in Lafia.

Gov. Abdullahi Sule while speaking during the funeral service at Ebenezer Baptist Chruch, Yelwa, Toto Local Government  gave an assurance that the state government was committed to fishing out perpetrators of the slain APC chairman to serve as deterrent to others.

Sule, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe also assured the family of the deceased APC chairman of prayers and support.

“Philip is a gentle man to the core. His death is not only a loss to Yelwa community, Toto Local Government or the state alone but Nigeria as a whole because he was a detribalised Nigerian.

The governor urged the family to take solace in God and prayed for the repose of the soul of the state APC chairman.

Wife of the deceased, Mrs Larai Philip Shekwo said her husband was a peaceful man while alive.

“My husband was a man of prayers, a man that does not want to cheat, he was a caring father and hero,” she said.

She urged the people to pray for the family and for the repose of the husband’s soul.

In his sermon, the President of Nasarawa/Benue Baptist Conference, Dr. Bulus Ali, said death is an inevitable end of all human and living beings.

Aged 63, Late Shekwor is survived by wife and children.
