There was palpable tension in Akure, ondo state capital on Sunday evening over the alleged stabbing of one of the followers of masquerade which has reportedly led to his death.
It was gathered from an eyewitness that the victim was said to have been allegedly stabbed by a trader and this led to a reprisal attack on some traders around Oja oba in Akure.
The reason for the attack on the victim was yet to be ascertained, as he was said to have lost so much blood after he was stabbed.
It was learnt that the situation caused confusion in the heart of the capital city for hours before security men were deployed to bring the unrest under control.
Many traders and residents around Oja Oba/Oba Adesida Road were seen running for their lives as some hoodlums were shooting heavily while the road was deserted of motorists for hours.
Police in Ondo State are yet to react to the incident.
