A leader of a four man gang of suspected armed robbers has been shot dead in Ubiaja, Esan South East local government area of Edo state while the remaining three were arrested.
Positive fm gathered that the suspected robbers in the early hours of Sunday stormed Ogbeide Medical Centre in Ubiaja where they robbed the hospital staff and relations of patients.
While the operation was ongoing, a distress call was sent to security agents and members of the Ubiaja vigilante group led by Chief Oniha.
The security team in no time stormed the medical centre and met the hoodlums in operation.
It was learnt that Upon sighting the security personnel, the suspected hoodlums opened fire, leading to a gun duel between the hoodlums and the security agents.
One of the robbers identified as Osagie and leader of the gang who wore a female wig on his head was felled on the spot during the exchange of gun fire.
Three other suspects were arrested at the scene of the crime.
Men of the Ubiaja Police Division have taken custody of the arrested suspects while the body of the deceased suspect has been deposited in the mortuary.
Items recovered from them include one locally made single barrel gun, live and expended catridges and mobile phones.
It was gathered that one of the arrested suspects is an ex-convict who was released from the correctional centre ( Prison) few months ago after he completing his jail term.
