Nigeria has produced her first cellphone.

The phones were presented to the minister of trade and investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo by the Director General of the Industrial Trainning Fund, ITF, Sir Joseph Ari at the 12th meeting of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment Abuja

He explained that the cellphones were 4G, and materials used for the production, were sourced locally.

“Our modular skills centre in Abuja went into collaboration with the Institute of Technical education and Services of Singapore. Together with the trainees, we were able to produce mobile cell phones using local materials. The mobile cellphones are 4G with all the components you can have in any mobile unit”

Sir Ari further stated that the Agency was collaborating with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, to ensure they meet the required standards.

“We are also working in tandem with the Standards Organization of Nigeria, SON to ensure they are produced according to standards. So, these are done by Nigerians and ready for marketing.”
