Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says the local security outfit codenamed AMOTEKUN is not in competition with other security agencies in the country but to complement the efforts at ensuring a crime free society.
The governor stated this while delivering while speaking at the opening of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists Ondo State Council Annual Press Week in Akure.
Represented by his chief of staff, Mr Olugbenga Ale, Governor Akeredolu said the state government would not relent in providing all logistics to support AMOTEKUN to rid the state of all criminal activities.
Delivering a lecture, corp commandant AMOTEKUN in Ondo State, Mr Adetunji Adeleye said in other to make the state a crime free zone, the corps is in synergy with all security agencies including the deployment of patrol vans in all the eighteen local government areas of the state.
He noted that the corps had received over one hundred complaints from residents especially farmers in the state over herdsmen-farmers crisis.
Earlier, hairman NUJ Ondo state Mr Tona Aderoboye said in order to rid the profession of quackery,a tax force have been inaugurated to sponge out fake journalists in Ondo state.
He however appealed to the state government to pay up to date,the arrears of media workers in the state and not to delay promotion of the workers.
Political and other top government functionaries attended the event,among them are the commissioner for information Mr Donald Ojogo,heads of security agencies like the NSCDC and the general manager positive FM Akure Mr Tunde Abiodun among others.
