ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT HAS RELAXED THE BAN PLACED ON VIGILS IN CHURCHES IN THE WAKE OF CORONAVIRUS CASES IN THE STATE.
THE CHAIRMAN OF THE STATE INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE, PROFESSOR ADESEGUN FATUSI ANNOUNCED THIS WHILE SPEAKING TO NEWSMEN AFTER A MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE IN AKURE.
PROFESSOR FATUSI HOWEVER SAID VIGILS COULD ONLY TAKE PLACE IN WORSHIP CENTRES ON THE NIGHT OF DECEMBER 31ST, 2020 FOR THE CROSS OVER SERVICE AND MUST BE DONE STRICTLY WITH THE MANDATED COVID-19 PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES.
In his words, “it is necessary we continue to do our best to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus. It is a collective responsibility particularly as we celebrate in this period. The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic is being experienced globally and a new round of lockdown is happening in several countries. The only way to avoid another lockdown in Nigeria is for every individual to strictly adhere to the preventive measures against the spread of the virus.”
PROFESSOR FATUSI WHO IS ALSO THE VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES ONDO CALLED FOR IMPROVED LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE PREVENTIVE MEASURES AGAINST COVID-19 AS CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR APPROACH.
HE URGED ALL ORGANISERS OF YULETIDE PROGRAMMES TO ENSURE THAT PEOPLE MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCING, WEAR FACE MASK AND WASH THEIR HANDS REGULARLY.
PROFESSOR FATUSI ENCOURAGED CHURCHES AND MOSQUES TO SET UP INTERNAL ENFORCEMENT TEAM WHICH WOULD MANDATE PEOPLE TO COMPLY WITH ALL THE PREVENTIVE MEASURES.
