Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has appealed to the federal government to accommodate more youths into the military and paramilitary section.

He made the appeal at the launch of the year 2021 armed forces remembrance day, emblem and appeal fund in Akure, Ondo State capital.

The governor observed daily decrease in the number of military personnel in the face of the ongoing fight against insurgency, terrorism and armed banditry in the country.

Governor Akeredolu who believed that the step would address shortage of manpower in the conventional security outfits also encouraged well-to-do Nigerians to always assist families of the fallen heroes with generous donation.

Earlier, the chairman Nigerian legion, Ondo state, Retired Colonel Olu Apata and the commissioner for Women Affairs and social development, Mrs Titi Adeyemi had solicited supports for the families of the fallen heroes to boost the morale of serving personnel and the living heroes.

Armed forces remembrance day is an annual event in memory of the nation’s fallen heroes and veterans, recognising their sacrifices during the first and second world war, Nigerian civil war and peace support operations around the world.
