A popular quote says “Kindness is a wonderful way to let another struggling soul know that there is still love in this world”

This, perharps propmted a female journalist with Radio Nigeria Positive fm Akure, Mrs Olufisoye Adenitan to extend her milk of kindness to some less privileged in Ikere ekiti, Ekiti State in this yuletide.

The beneficiaries who were over twenty in number were widows and members of the Association of visually impaired persons and children including boarding pupils.

They all got items ranging from foodstuffs, Christmas clothes for Children, Toiletries to other household items courtesy of the young Journalist who extends act of kindness to the vulnerables through her non governmental platform, Action For The Advancement Of Women And Girls.

The event held at the School For The Blind, Ikere Ekiti attracted dignitaries who came mainly to join Olufisoye in putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in this season.

Prominent among them was a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti state , Mr Abiodun Aluko who cautioned against stigmatisation of persons living with Disabilities.

Mr Aluko explained that persons with disabilities were part of the society hence the need to show them love and compassion .

The Former Deputy Governor urged them not to relent at developing their capacities because there is ability in disability.

Also speaking ,a philanthropist and construction Engineer , Mr Abiodun olowolafe advised the visually impaired persons to showcase their talents so that they would be empowered to be self reliant.

In a remark, the Chairman, Association For The Blind , Ekiti State, Mr Olajide Olatunbosun appreciated the kind gesture and appealed for more government attention to the plight of the visually impaired children .

Earlier the convener of the programme Mrs Olufisoye Adenitan, said the purpose was to show love and compassion to the socially disadvantaged and less privileged in the society.

Mrs Adenitan said the NGO would continue to embark on more life changing programmes that would better the lives of persons with disabilities.

The event was also attended by the chairperson of the Nigeria Association Of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, In Ekiti state, Mrs Fatima Bello of Radio Nigeria Progress Fm, Ado Ekiti who also presented some of the items to the beneficiaries.
