The popular saying that hardwork does not go unnoticed and someday the reward will follow came to play on Sunday, 27th December,2020 as Radio Nigeria Positive fm Community Reporter in Idanre, Mr. Ganiyu Agbelusi was honoured with an award of “OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE” at the grand finale of the just concluded Ketewa cultural festival of idanre by a non governmental organisation, OLA UNIVERSAL FOUNDATION.

Mr Agbelusi who joined Positive fm in 2019 daily keep his eyes on the entire Idanre local government, bringing to the fore the needs and desires of the communities under the Council area with some of these receiving urgent government attention.

He has also projected the cultures and traditions of the ancient town of idanre through timely and rich reports.

As he carried out this legitimate business of journalism, little did he know that some sons and daughters of the community both home and abroad were noticing with keen interest.

This, no doubt culminated in the presentation of an award of outstanding performance to Mr Agbelusi by Ola Universal Foundation, whose founder and sponsor is a UK based Idanre indigene, Mr. Oladokun Ogundairo.

The award was however presented to Mr Agbelusi by representatives of the foundation, namely Deacon Ojo Akintola, Mrs Bukola Duyilemi and Miss Bukola Folajoye.

They commended the positive fm Community reporter for doing the ancient town by reporting its activities in the media, thus keeping the town in limelight always.

The presenter of the award said “….in recognition of your performance in our community, by projecting the good image of our community on air”

Receiving the award, Mr. Agbelusi who also doubles as the personal secretary and media officer to Owa Of Idanre expressed gratitude to God and Ola Universal Foundation for the award.

He therefore dedicated it to the entire people of Idanre kingdom using the ondo state commissioner for culture and tourism, Mr Yemi Olowolabi whom he described as his mentor as as point of contact as well as to Radio Nigeria for giving him the platform to showcase his passion for journalism.

Reacting to the honour bestowed on Agbelusi   the general manager of positive fm Akure, Mr Tunde Abiodun said it was well deserved as he had made the station proud by being harworking, diligent and professional urging him not to relent.

The sixty one year old Ganiyu Agbelusi  holds a B. Sc. from University of Ado Ekiti,(UNAD) Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State in 2004 and attended International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.

He joined Radio Nigeria Positive FM 102.5 in 2019 as its Community reporter covering Idanre Local Government area of Ondo State.

Similarly, the Commissioner for culture and tourism, Mr Yemi Olowolabi was honoured with an award of DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENTS by the same organisation.

According to the foundation, the award is in recognition of his efforts at uniting all idanre sons and daughters and for promoting idanre cultural heritage.
