Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has advised the federal government to empower the military with  better equipment to fight insurgency and other criminalities in the country

Governor Akeredolu gave the advice at a church service to commemorate the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration,

The service was held at St. Benedict Military Catholic Church, Owena Cantonment Nigerian Army, Ondo Road, Akure.

Mr Akeredolu also recommended multi-level police system to secure the country noting that the issue of state policing had become more necessary than ever

He however lauded the Military counter-terrorism efforts aimed at ridding the country and the state of criminal elements and criminalities particularly the kidnappers.

Governor Akeredolu who advocated synergy among security agencies also implored Nigerians to pray and empathise with the widows and dependants of the fallen heroes

In a remark, the Commander of the 32 Artillery Bridage, Brigadier General Zakare Abubakar appreciated the commitment of Governor Akeredolu to the brigade, soldiers, widows and dependents of the fallen heros.

In his sermon entitled, ”Leadership and Sacrifice,” the Bishop Ondo Catholic Diocese, Right Reverend Jude Arogundade prayed for blessings and success on those making decisions for the armed forces

Bishop Arogundade, who said the armed forces embodied the pride of any country, explained that they protected the wealth of the nation.

“They have also done us proud in international engagements, and have succeeded where so many nations have failed.

“You have given up your lives for the country to be peaceful. There is no greater love than to lay down your lives for your country, this is why Nigeria owes you a great debt,” Arogundade said.
