Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile says there is no truth in the report that the Yoruba Rights Activist, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho was invited by the state government to combat crimes in the state.
In a statement in Abeokuta, Alhaji Odusile said the government would neither welcome nor endorse any initiative that amounted to self-help or outside the constitution.
The Commissioner explained that reports on the purported invitation credited to an interview by the Special Adviser on Public Communication to Governor Dapo Abiodun was a quotation out of context and was twisted to achieve sensational effects.
Alhaji Odusile said the State Government would continue to deploy statutory means to fight crimes and criminals in the state, including working with institutions saddled with the constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.
While pointing out that the state Government had directed security agencies to apprehend and bring any perpetrator of crimes and Criminalities to Justice, Alhaji Odusile said the State would not be conducive for any group or individual that undermine peace, security and social wellbeing of the State.
He also advised residents to go about their normal businesses, adding that the state government was committed to providing adequate security across the state.
