Eighteen thousand residents of Ondo State have benefitted from the ongoing extended special public works, SPW Program

The Acting Director General, National Directorate of Employment, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo stated this at the flag off of SPW in Akure, the Ondo State capital

SPW is a labour based light equipment program designed to create transient jobs for seven hundred and seventy four thousand unskilled, semi-skilled and graduates Nigerians

Represented by the deputy director, Small scale enterprise, NDE headquarters, Mrs Funmilayo Kila, Mallam Fikpo described the development as a way of addressing hardship associated with covid-19 pandemic

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the governor on public affairs and intergovernmental relations, Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu enjoined each participant, entitled to sixty thousand naira at two thousand naira monthly payment to utilize the stipend judiciously

Appreciating the federal government for the opportunity, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said the beneficiaries would be deployed to traffic control, clearing of drainage, potholes filling among other environmental jobs.
