The Imo State Police Command Says it has commenced investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of a sixty four year old legal practitioner Mr. Ndionyema Nwankwo in his office in Owerri last Saturday.
In a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu said following a distress call police operatives quickly moved to the office of late Mr. Nwankwo where he was seen lying in the pool of his own blood.
He explained that the victim who hailed from Arochukwu local government area of Abia state sustained machete cuts on his neck noting that a machete stained with blood suspected to have been used in perpetrating the act was found on the floor of the office.
Mr. Ikeokwu stated that the vehicle of the deceased and other yet to be identified items belonging to him were taken away by the suspected assailants.
He said the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command Mr. Nasiru Mohammed had ordered that investigation be commenced to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen items.
The PPRO explained that the Police Commissioner called for calm as the command carries out the investigation.
