Commercial Drivers operating under Road Transport Employeers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) have rejected increase in transport fare in Akure metropolis and other parts of the state, vow to maintain old rate.

The state Chairman of the Association, Mr Adewale Bolarinwa who gave the directive while reacting to outcry over increase in the ticket and taxi fare, described the increment as inhuman.

Mr Bolarinwa who alleged that some hoodlums suspected to be agents of the NURTW had been attacking RTEAN members for not joining in the hike of the transport fare, insisted that his members would continue to carry passengers at old fare.

Two fo the RTEAN members Baba Kasali Akande and Tajudeen Kazeem who were matcheted at their ticketing point on Oyemekun Road, Akure are now receiving treatment at undisclosed hospital while vehicles of RTEAN members were allegedly being impounded by NURTW members.
