The results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private candidates, 2020 second series has been Released.

The Head of National Office of the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, Mr. Patrick Areghan announced the release of the results in Lagos.

He said that Twenty Four Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety One candidates representing Thirty Nine point Eight Two percent obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Mr. Areghan noted that there was a marginal increase of Four point Seven Two percent in candidates performance in the 2020 second series private examination diet, compared to that of 2018 and 2019.

The Head WAEC in Nigeria however, stressed that the number of candidates that had five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, should not be used in judging the level of candidates’ performance in the private candidate examination because the examination was more or less a remedial examination for candidates that needed a subject or two to make up for the ones they did not pass very well during the School Examination.

Mr. Areghan also announced that the results of Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Forty Eight candidates, representing Nine Point Zero Two percent of the total number of candidates that sat the examination were being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.

Mr Areghan

He stressed that the cases of examination fraud were being investigated and reports of the investigations would be presented to the appropriate committee of the Council for determination in due course.

Mr Areghan explained that the decision of the Committee would be communicated directly to the affected candidates thereafter.
