Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has directed the closure of all boarding Schools in four local government councils of the state with immediate effect.

The four local government councils are Rafi, Munya, Shiroro and Mariga.

He gave the directive while addressing Newsmen in Minna following the abduction of students, teachers and  family members of staff of Government Science College Kagara.

Alh Bello maintained that such schools shall remain closed until the situation improved.

He described the situation as serious and sad stressing that while tension was high residents should provide useful information to security agencies for necessary action.

On the demand of five hundred million naira ransom by bandits,  Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said it was not the policy of Niger state government to pay ransom to bandits because they would use those resources for the purchase of additional weapons.

He however explained that Niger state government was willing and ready to assist any repentant bandits to settle for other useful and viable ventures.

Alh Abubakar Sani Bello also called on the Federal Government to deploy all resources needed to rescue the abducted boys.

Twenty seven students of Government Science College Kagara were abducted three staff kidnapped with twelve family members of staff and one student killed during the attack by bandits on Tuesday.
