Former Head of State, General Abdulsalslami Abubakar has described the recent ethnic attacks in some parts of Nigeria as unfortunate.

He stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna.

General Abdulsalslami Abubakar lamented that the crises added to the already existing problems bedeviling the country.

The Former Head of State who is also the Chairman National Peace Committee called for calm especially at this difficult time to enhance rapid development of the country’s economy.

The Elderstatesman also pleaded with traditional and religious leaders as well as non governmental organisations to work towards mobilising Nigerians on the need to live in peace with one another for socio-economic development of Nigeria.

General Abdulsalslami Abubakar however pleaded with state governors to take full responsibility of managing those crises in their respective states for peaceful coexistence.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies for their efforts at dousing the tension and appealed to Nigerians to embrace dialogue rather than confrontation in resolving their differences.
