Players and officials of ADAMAWA UNITED FC were last night robbed at gun point around Benin- Ore expressway on their way for their week 11 NPFL fixture againt MFM Fc in Lagos.
The driver of the Team was reportedly abducted in the process and has not been found.
Thier phones, money and other valuables were taken away by the criminals.
According to a player of the team, Sadiq Lawan the incident occured at about 1130pm along Benin Ore road .
” About 8 of them came out from the bush and started shooting into the air, they ordered us out, took our money and phones”
It was later we found out that our driver was taking away”
“We are back to Benin City at the checkpoint , the coach has gone to the police station, I don’t know if the Edo FA have been contacted”.
As at the time of this report no official statement was made and effort to contact the chairman of the club Mr. Emmanuel Zira failed.
But the Perm Secretary in the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Alhaji Aliyu Jada confirmed the attack and said the kidnappers have demanded a N50m ransome before the driver could be released.
