A former lawmaker in the Ondo State house of Assembly, Hon Olugbenga Araoyinbo has stressed the need for the establishment of state police as a panacea to the rising cases of insecurity in the country.

Hon Araoyinbo in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure, Ondo state capital, emphasized that only state police could curb the menace as being practiced in advanced society.

The former Majority Leader in the Ondo State house of Assembly who lamented the spate of killing by herdsmen and kidnapping across the country commended the efforts of the Southwest Security Network codenamed Amotekun for checking crime in the region.

“Amotekun has been helpful in recent times and I commend the initiators”.

“If the security network is strengthened, it will go a long way at checking the insecurity and other social vices in the society”.

Hon Araoyinbo observed that state policing would no doubt check other unwholesome attitude in the country.

The former lawmaker urged Nigerians   to be more security conscious and give  information to security agencies when necessary to help nip crime in the bud.
