The immediate past Chief Judge of the Federal High Court Abuja, Justice Abdu Kafarati, is dead.

Justice Kafarati died of cardiac arrest yesterday evening, 25th February, at his Abuja residence shortly after observing his evening magrib prayer.

The incumbent Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho, officially announced the demise of his immediate predecessor in a statement in Abuja.

In the statement signed by the Chief Information Officer of the court, Mrs Oby Nwandu, the Chief judge describes his late predecessor as calm and gentle, but very courageous; extremely humble and forthright in all his dealings.

He prayed the Almighty God to grant his immediate family, relatives and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Justice Kafarati was born on the 25th of July, 1954, at Kwami, Gombe State, he was appointed to the Federal High Court Bench on the 31st of October, 1991.

He was confirmed as the substantive Chief Judge of the court on the 19th of June, 2018 and retired from the federal high court bench on the 25th of July, 2019.

The statement indicates that he has been buried on Friday according to Islamic rites.
