Governor Bello Matawalle has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding schools in Zamfara state.
This followed the abduction of 317 students from the Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe, Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara state.
The governor in a broadcast said the state government was committed to the speedy rescue of the girls as police helicopters and other search and rescue operatives were in the area.
According to him, it is not a moment to trade blames, hence the need for more actions and united response among neighboring states in order to clampdown on the bandits.
Governor Matawalle said actual figure of the abducted girl students was not yet ascertained but appealed to the people of the state especially families of the abducted students to be patient and pray for their successful rescue.
