There is tension, anxiety and fear in the boundary town of Ajowa Akoko in Akoko northwest local government area of Ondo state over the influx of herdsmen into forests in the community.

Ajowa is the community where a 40 year old farmer Dayo, cousin to a former aide of Governor Akeredolu, Mr Gani Mohammed was allegedly killed by some herders who destroyed his crops.

Positive fm gathered that the strange herdsmen loaded in three trucks sneaked into the town’s forest in the night without prior notice or proper registration.

Ondo state government had given order to herders to register and regularise the way they rear cows and not to graze in the night while under aged must not be allowed to also graze cows.

According to residents, all these regulations were not followed by the newly arrived herdsmen to Ajowa Akoko.

Two residents,  Soji ogedengbe and Audu Badru who led others to the forest of uro confirmed the presence of the herders who couldnt explain their mission in the settlement.

Meanwhile, some community leaders and the leader of vigilante group in Ajowa town have alleged one Ojo, a member of the community of being the  brain behind the illegal migration of the  herdsmen into the area.

Efforts to speak with the Okeagbe divisional police officer Dpo supretendent of police Akinwande,the chairman Ajowa traditional council the oludotun of Iludotun oba Olusa and the oluro of uro oba micheal Ipinmoroti were not successful.
