Women have been encouraged to regard every challenge confronting them as a necessary examination to pave the way for their promotion.

The Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ogun state chapter, Mrs Modupeola Sobukonla stated while addressing a gathering of women in Abeokuta as part of activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day.

Speaking on the theme for the celebration, “CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE”, Mrs Sobukonla reminded women that it was high time they looked beyond limitations and lived their dream for a better life.

She maintained that there was no profession or leadership position too difficult for women to excel in with determination and diligence, adding that all it required was the courage to confront the hurdles.

While expressing concern on the rate of violence against women, The State Chairperson of NAWOJ implored  relevant authorities to check incessant kidnapping, rape abduction of women and school children across the country.

Mrs Sobukonla expressed sadness that the female gender was gradually becoming an endangered specie and commiserated with victims of kidnapping and their families while also felicitating all women on the occasion of their international day.
