Members of Nigeria Labour Congress on Monday stormed major streets in Akure, the Ondo state capital to protest alleged abuse of a pregnant woman by Doyin Odebowale, the special assistant to governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on special duties.

The workers who carried different placards were demanding the removal of Odebowale.

The workers, led by the Executives of the Nigeria Labour Congress were addressed by the Deputy Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The Deputy Governor, who stood in for Governor Akeredolu, appealed to the workers to shelve their planned march against an alleged assault of a pregnant woman.

He  the allegation against the Senior Special Assistant on Strategy and Special Duties, Dr. Doyin Odebowale, was already being investigated.

Dr Odebowale was alleged of Slapping a pregnant woman who happens to be a staff of the Ondo state waste management board and the development had generated a lot of reactions from civil servants, politicians and other stakeholders in the state.

Dr Odebowale has however denied slapping the woman.
