A fire outbreak has razed eight classrooms, eight stores, four makeshift staff rooms and twelve toilets at Fariah Foundation Schools in Bauchi metropolis of Bauchi state, Northern Nigeria
Principal of the school Mr. Ala Alexander who conducted journalists round the burnt facilities explained that the fire also destroyed ten bags of rice belonging to the school, learning and teaching materials such as textbooks, writing materials for students and teachers, student’s desks and other personal items belonging to staff.
According to the Principal the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 1:20pm and lasted fifteen minutes before the intervention of fire fighters.
Mr. Alexander who said the cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained, expressed gratitude to God Almighty that despite the losses recorded, there was no loss of life of staff or students and no injury recorded.
The Principal noted that the school in its over thirty years of establishment, has never experienced any incident of such nature.
Mr. Ala Alexander called on the government and other well to do individuals to support the school to renovate the razed structures and replace the teaching and learning materials lost to the fire incident.
