The Permanent Secretary, Ondo State ministry of health, Mrs Folukemi Aladenola wants teenage girls to carry themselves with dignity and confidence especially during their menstrual period .
Mrs Aladenola gave the advice while delivering a lecture at Baptist High School Akure to commemorate this year’s WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY.
She commended the initiative of reaching out to girls and educating them on facts about menstrual hygiene
Mrs Aladenola who is a Pharmarcist by profession said government would intensify efforts at reaching out to more girls especially at the grassroots.
In a contribution, Ondo state coordinator, Network of Reproductive Health Journalists in Nigeria, Mrs Fatima Muraina told the girls to prioritise hygiene during menstruation to prevent infections.
In a goodwill message, an Assistant Manager News, NTA Akure, Mrs Olubukola Aduwo encouraged girls to always be proud of their gender and never leave room for intimidation.
Ondo State CAN chairman, Reverend Ayo oladapo admonished fathers to make it a point of duty to provide sanitary towels for their daughters.
Also speaking, the CAN Chairman’s wife, Mrs Esther Oladapo encouraged people to reach out to the vulnerable in the society through advocacy and capacity building .
